It was announced on Jay's Brick Blog as well. Jay is a good source for upcoming releases. His site usually has good photos and pricing as well.

LEGO to roll out Mars rover Perseverance as new Technic set on August 1

The next space-themed LEGO set to be released is actually two history-making spacecraft in one, Technic-ally speaking.

As officially revealed on Tuesday (May 23), the new LEGO Technic NASA Mars Rover Perseverance model will not only recreate in miniature the most recent U.S. robotic explorer to drive across the Martian surface, but also its flying companion, the Ingenuity Mars helicopter. The 1,132 piece set, which as part of the Technic line includes more complex mechanisms, will go on sale Aug. 1 for $99.99 (£84.99 or €89.99) at LEGO stores and on the company's website.

Yes, now confirmed by a LEGO spokesperson, the release date has changed to Aug. 1. The press release LEGO sent out ahead of today's announcement had the set coming out on June 1. There was no explanation provided for the delay.

JPL advisor: Building new LEGO Technic Perseverance Mars rover was a 'thrill'

Step number 337 in assembling LEGO's new NASA Mars Rover Perseverance Technic model is to you install your name on the miniature robotic explorer — assuming, of course, you were one of the nearly 11 million people who signed up to fly on the real Perseverance now on the Red Planet.

The detail, which is represented as a decal, is just one of the ways that LEGO designers accurately reproduced Perseverance down to even its finer points. The 1,132-piece building set, which went on sale for $99.99 at U.S. LEGO Stores and on LEGO.com on Tuesday (Aug. 1), is the product of a collaboration between the Denmark-based toy company and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, where the real six-wheeled vehicle was designed, built and, for the past 894 days since touching down in Jezero Crater, controlled from Earth.

A much simpler, LEGO Technic polybag model (30682) of the Perseverance Mars rover is coming in 2024:
