DID Corporation previewed its upcoming 1:6 scale Apollo 11 Astronaut figure at the 2018 Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong convention this past weekend.
Few details are available, but the company noted on Facebook that they plan figures for all three Apollo 11 crew members. The figures posted are prototypes, so the obvious error of having Collins in a lunar EVA-configured suit may still be corrected.

They remind me of the old Dragon figures that were released years ago. But a little puffier and the cutaway PLSS is new.

The cutaway PLSS is a great idea.
Anyone seen a cutaway PLSS before? Would make a nice scale model!

Wow, This will make a fine addition to my 1/6 collection. Buzz Aldrin from Dragon, Gene Cernan and modified Cernan to represent Jack Schmitt from Hobby Master. About time they did this. I know 2011, they released the Neil Armstrong, very rare and costly if you can find one.
The detail on those boots are astounding. I'm sure they will amend the detail issues, as like they did with the HM figure.
I wrapped the figures with a few layers of bubble wrap to make them look puffier. Just around the arms, legs and torso.

When asked about the status of these figures on Facebook earlier this week, DID Corp. replied, "Will try our best to release by July."
(Note: The figures, as planned, will not include the lunar surface or flag assembly, though DID says they will consider offering a diorama.)

The figures were released on July 19. They are available for $309.99 each or $923.97 for the set of three.
July 16 1969, a journey to the moon started. Commander Neil A. Thanks for following up on this, Robert. They're an improvement over the Dragon iterations, but at that price, I'll have to give this some thought. I figured they'd be about half that price. Thanks again for checking on this.

I doubt this was done for the likes of us. I dabbled in the realm of 1:6 figures for a very short time until it occurred to me it was taking money away from the 1:1 scale stuff I normally gravitate to, often costing more than the real-life items they were modeling.
There's a sub-culture in play that will frankly pay almost anything for something exclusive and costly like this. I'd bet the retail price of a set of these that they'll sell out soon enough.

Monkey Depot has Neil and Buzz at $300 each; Mike at $260; and set at $800.
Once they get these further developed, I believe the accuracy and detail will be a lot better than what came from Dragon or Hobby Master. The boot covers alone are a huge step over them. Hope to see more real soon.

Apollo training figures I suppose as the Omega watches aren't seen in the details? Also the Apollo 11 crew posed for their official portraits without gloves.

Philip, the detailed description of the figures' accessories on Monkey Depot's site does list "Watch" for Neil and Buzz, but not Mike.
It doesn't say "Speedmaster" though.

My grumble with them isn't the price, but it appears that their heads are actually smaller as compared to the rest of the suit, aka: shrunken heads. Additionally, Collin's suit looks to "puffy."
If those details were better, I would purchase them. For that price they need to be a good as a wax museums display in my opinion.

I think the Neil and Buzz photos are the same photo with different heads photoshopped on to the body. That would explain both having the same Aldrin name tag. Maybe that's why the heads also appear to be too small?

WAY too expensive. DiD is riding the anniversary wave. Hopefully they eventually go on discount.
I've got several of the Dragon/DML versions and aside from the boots, I don't see that great of an update in detailing.
Hopefully they venture into other suits/astronauts, such as Mercury, Gemini and Shuttle but at more reasonable prices...

The PLSS/OPS on the DID version appear to be much more accurate as well. I'd be interested to see the EVA helmet/visor.

That is actually a good idea... print out a backdrop of the LM or moonscape to use as a background for display, diorama-style.

Just received my Neil Armstrong figure from DID corp. They did an amazing job!
It's going to take me some time to add all the small parts to configure it to look like he's on the moon.
Great packaging as well! It was worth the wait!!!

I don't collect dolls, but despite the shrunken heads DID seems to have done an amazing job. These look like small scale EMU familiarization training aids. It would be interesting to hear Daniel Schaiewitz's (Daniel on the Moon) opinion if he got his hands on one.
