I have a few higher-end models from Danbury Mint and Cose 3 that I would like to get get display cases for. Does anyone know a good source for them? Do some of you build your own cases?

Have you thought about a curio cabinet? You can find them at furniture stores. You can check them out at Howard Miller and see what they look like.

I made a case for the Code 3 Collectibles' Apollo Astronaut and one for Dragon Models' 'Astronaut Buck' figure with all sides of the case in black and with the Earth in the background, which looks quite cool I think.

I make the cases out of glass, which I have cut to size, then fix together using silicone. I just think it finishes them off.

Collecting models is one thing, finding the appropriate way to display them is another. Do collectors buy display cases like these? Or any other sources welcome!

Ikea is a great place to get a display case. I purchased the Detolf case and paid about $65 for it. This model case from Ikea comes in a few colors. You can even add a light at the top if you want.

Can anyone suggest where I can purchase large display cases to show off various contractor models. I have over 30 with various shapes and sizes and can't seem to find any that are glass enclosed, mirrored backed and lit. I assume these would be used for commercial purposes and not your typical IKEA version. Thanks for any help.

For those like me who have no local Ikea store, Amazon offers a similar case for about $130. That includes shipping on mine. These cases are great display cases.

I have three of the custom-made cases as indicated by "cspg". These are manufactured in the U.K. and have a wide range of colours for the base plates. The top of the case is easily removed for close viewing if necessary.

A small German company (www.sora.de) offers acrylic boxes made to measure. The website is only in German available but easy to understand.

I've noticed that most of my acrylic display cases are starting to show signs of wear (micro scratches) so I've been looking for a real glass alternative.

I found this eBay seller who has some really nice Glass display cases in various sizes (will custom build too) edged with silver grey lead with a choice of mirror and insert board colour.

This one would be perfect for the SHM 1/6 Moonwalker.

I have all my models under Plexiglas. I see you live in Houston. I have used Contemporary Plastics, in north Houston (281-890-1782).

You will need a base and he will do any size and height.

The professional go to cleaner is called 210 Plastic Cleaner/Polish by Camco. Never use Windex or other window cleaners as these will deteriorate the plastic.

All times are CT (US)
