Back in January, I appeared on History Channel's "American Restoration" to advise on the repairs to a prototype Gemini Astronaut Maneuvering Unit (AMU). The "jetpack" belonged to a collector, so as much as I would have liked to have kept it for myself, I returned with only photos of the AMU as a keepsake of my experience. But now, through the tremendous talents of Pascal Hecker (cS: apolloprojeckt), I am now the proud owner of a 1:13 scale AMU model, complete with support stand, based on how it appeared during my segment on American Restoration. To build the model, which stands about 6 inches tall including the stand and case, Pascal began with the AMU from Aurora's 1967 "American Astronaut" kit. His finished work though, goes well beyond the original in details specific to the "as seen on TV" prototype. I cannot be more grateful to Pascal for his workmanship in creating this miniature. I plan on sharing photos of it with Rick Dale and his crew at Rick's Restorations, as well as the owner of the real AMU that appeared on the show.

Very nice! Does it have miniature autographs hidden behind a panel? |

The episode still re-airs on the History Channel (check your local listings; for those in the states, it next airs on May 10), and may be able viewable online. |

Robert, I watched the AR episode yesterday afternoon. Very informative. I was pleasantly surprised at how much of your commentary made it to the final cut. They should have omitted some of the new guy's antics and focused more on your input. Still, a good episode. |
