Where does one buy/sell/trade our nerdy passion these days? Not the kits, Woodies, Proachies or Dragons... talking about the ones the astronauts fondled so manly-like when having their portraits taken. Oh yeah? Check out MY booster, Nikita! The ones with that lovely 1960's musty Cape Canaveral office smell. I love the smell of factory models in the morning... it smells like... cancer. That sort of thing.
Used to be that you could buy and sell off of eBay, but now the community there is so unreliable that something can go real cheap one day and real expensive the next.
And half the time, the items sold are just flipped the day after the 30-day view period ends. Not great when real cheap isn't an option. Sorry, that was Wernher Von Braun's, not selling it for $20 (or even $200, I suppose ).
Then there used to be the eBay to Regency-Superior to Aurora to eBay sale cycle (you know the feeling: "didn't I get outbid on that on eBay/Regency/Aurora?") but when Aurora went under, the cycle was broken. With the feeding cycle broken, the maquettosphere loaded up with plankton and algae, which tends to stain the lovely "used to be white" paint jobs.
The great remainder, Regency-Superior, they havn't had a decent model grouping in a long while... something that I can judge if I should bother trying to sell anything (let alone buying!). Goldberg maybe, but they're mostly a place to sell gold coins you find buried in coffee cans in the garden, or your grandfather's stamp collection with the legendary "Handlebar mustache Hitler" error stamp.
So then, is there a super-secret coven out there? What is the hazing ritual? (On second thought, don't go there.) Is there a password other than "my wife hates my guts"? Drop me a line.
Because my wife hates my guts.
