Dragon Models announcement
1/18 Apollo Astronaut Assortment

Brand New Action 18 Hero Series

Making one giant leap forward for collectors is Dragon’s new Action 18 Hero range of figures! The first four astronaut action figures (Item Nos. 18101-18104) come as a complementary assortment, and they are beautifully made to 1/18 scale (3.75-inch). Every figure in the quartet represents an Apollo astronaut, and they come with differentiating features and accessories. One astronaut has planted the “Stars and Stripes” flag on the Moon’s surface, another carries a camera, while a third wields a scoop with which to collect lunar soil specimens.

The face of the fourth figure can be seen as he has taken off his helmet and carries it in his hands. All the figures come with individual dioramic stands so that they can be realistically displayed.

All the action figures feature ball joints to give their legs and arms an appropriate degree of articulation within their spacesuits. Making use of Dragon’s vast experience in producing 12-inch action figures, this set is simply stunning. They soar far above toy-like figures from other manufacturers, and their individual painting is equal to that in the best of collections. The NASA badges on their spacesuits are accurately produced by tampo printing. These are the first figures in the Action 18 Hero collection, and like the Apollo space exploration program, there is so much more for space fans to discover and look forward to!

  • Ball joints for different articulation
  • Badges presented in tampo printing
  • Diorama stand included for display
  • Separate accessories for different poses
This series is sold by the Inner Box with assortment of 4 action figures. Each Inner Box includes the following:
  • 18101 - Astronaut w/Flag - 3 pcs Per inner box
  • 18102 - Astronaut w/Camera - 3 pcs per inner box
  • 18103 - Astronaut w/Scoop - 3 pcs per inner box
  • 18104 - Astronaut w/Helmet in hand - 3 pcs per inner box

That looks good!! But why still always only the A7L space suit? I hope they come out also with the A7LB suit.

Now they need a 1/18 LM and CSM to go with them!

LOL!

I doubt they would. But, doing a pair of A7LB suited astronauts in a lunar rover would be nice. Part of the reason for the LB suits is so they would have the torso bending capabilities to ride in the rover.

Any idea what the price of each of these astronauts will be? By the way, the figure with his helmet removed looks an awful lot like a certain astronaut who will be buried this month (as opposed to his partner with the thinning hairline).

Dragon is already 10+ months late in some of their models, so who knows. The Flying Mule received information about those yesterday. Dragon Models USA announces the models for November.

1/18? Is ANYTHING available in that scale in real space anything?

By the way, if anyone knows if astronaut figures in 1/32 or 1/35, I would be very interested. Please let me know. Since we lost Chris C. from EVA models, no one is making decent products in that scale.

Pegasus Hobbies makes an injection-molded model of the Bell X-1 in 1:18 scale. Not 'real space' but could be considered 'early space'.

There's a F/A-18 at that scale... but it's not space-related!

Don't know about kits, but I believe the Code 3 Lunar Rover is 1:18. It better be, because I'm going to put a 1:18 '65 Corvette next to it.

Seems as though Dragon is slowing down releasing Apollo related products for now. Maybe to product line has been completed?

I've noticed too. Can't say I really mind, as my wallet could use the break, but there's not much still out there to be done by Dragon in that vein... at least in terms of ready-made models.

I'm still holding out hope for a 1:72 Mercury-Atlas and Gemini-Titan.

Doesn't take 3 days to update a web page...

From HobbyLink Japan, release could be about March 30 (or later) and they're not taking any more orders because of potential lack of supply...

My local hobby shop explained that Dragon is known to offer product release dates that are not accurate. I called Dragon USA and inquired about this product and they have no idea when they will receive stock.

Makes you wonder why they've put it on their web site in first place (the models and collection are not listed on Dragon Hong-Kong website). There's still quite some room for effective communications, despite the billions of cell phones on the planet.

I understand your frustration. My local hobby shop stated that this happens with Dragon all of the time. Hopefully we will see this product appear on the store shelves very soon.

Do you use "Performance Hobbies" in Webster?

Tom at Performance did not tell me about the Dragon issue, it was another store that I will leave anonymous, but Performance Hobbies is one of my favorites and I buy kits and supplies there all of the time.

Dragon Models USA removed it. It never appeared on Dragon Model-Hong Kong (Headquarters).
