Check out 2StoryProp's wearable reproduction of the Apollo A7L spacesuit.

It starts off sort of cheesy but I have to admit the end product was pretty impressive given what the guy had to work with!

Wow, that is amazing! Looks like it would be super hot in there but an incredible achievement! Not sure if the gold visor is going to allow the wearer to see?

Very, very nice, but I miss one cable from PLSS RCU to the OPS.

Do they go sell it in production?

The suit is apparently a one-of-a-kind built for cosplay at this year's Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia.

Aren't the red Commander's stripes about 7/10,000 of an inch too wide? Preposterous.

Yeah, this guy is pretty well known for making replica movie costumes and props, things like that. He's not a 'space fan' in the classic sense. That said, he made something most space fans could never make. If you look through the build photos, it's amazing how he got to where he is.

So when we last left Wayne Neumaier (2StoryProp), he had built and worn his Apollo A7L spacesuit replica at Dragon*Con 2013. But his suit's story doesn't end there:
  • In October, he wrote about his experience constructing the suit and taking it out for its first outing.

  • In December, he met up with Mythbusters Adam Savage while at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, which landed him on Tested.com.

  • On Jan. 31, Neumaier returned to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center for hands-on access to a real A7L suit to take measurements and photos for improving his own replica.
For those wanting to get their own look at the moon suit (and meet Neumaier), he is scheduled to attend Yuri's Night at the Space & Rocket Center on April 19.

All times are CT (US)
