Behind the Scenes: LEGO CUUSOO Hayabusa being packed at the factory in Billund, Denmark
The second LEGO CUUSOO product, Hayabusa, is making its way from the warehouse in Denmark to Japan for release in the Japanese market. Here's a little behind-the-scenes look at the boxes being packed. Exclusives are packed in a smaller factory, which as you can see, the packing is still done by hand.

I think the video of the packaging is really cool, let's hope that the Lego Hayabusa will have greater appeal to the international market than the Bandai Hayabusa did.
It seemed that the Bandai model was not of great appeal, could it be the price?
If so I hope that Lego would have better luck with their Haybusa.

The world's first spacecraft to collect samples from the surface of an asteroid and return them to Earth, Japan's Hayabusa mission probe, is now available as a LEGO toy thanks to a homemade model and its thousands of fans.
The Denmark-based LEGO Group announced Friday (March 2) that its Hayabusa 369-piece building set has now gone on sale in Japan. A limited number of the sets will be made available worldwide through LEGO's online store at a date still be decided for later this year. The model retails for $49.

As a matter of fact, I just picked one of these up last night. I returned to hotel with this, and then saw the headline on the homepage.
I'm in Tokyo on business and was wandering around a shopping area here (Venus Fort) and came across a Lego store that had these on the shelf.
I didn't realize it was this brand new, as in first day of release brand new. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!

Good timing indeed!
It's a fun build, in part because the step-by-step instruction book also includes sidebars about the science instruments and other equipment you're building.
LEGO sent collectSPACE a sample model to build a few weeks ago, which is how we had our own photos ready for the release yesterday.

LEGO might want to reissue their Hayabusa model. For some reason their web page indicates that this model is "retired", not sold out or unavailable. Almost as if there was something wrong with it.

It has actually been out of stock on LEGO's website for at least a couple of months. "Retired" means officially and permanently out of production, since LEGO never reissues their sets.
