Woo hoo! Buzz Aldrin's guest role on 'The Simpsons' earns him an action figure

Buzz Aldrin, whose accolades include being the second out of only 12 men to walk on the moon, can now add being one of the 25 greatest guest stars on "The Simpsons," at least as immortalized in a new series of toy figures.

The Apollo 11 moonwalker, who in 1994 voiced a cartoon version of himself on the long-running animated television sitcom, was revealed Tuesday (Sept. 9) to be part of the fourth series of celebrity-inspired, limited edition figurines being released by the National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA) in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products.

"I'm honored to be one of the '25 Greatest Guest Stars on The Simpsons!'" Aldrin, who landed on the moon with Neil Armstrong in July 1969, wrote on Facebook. "Can't wait to get mine."

Cool, I wonder if it'll be in the same scale as the set released a few years ago of the other characters from the same episode:

NECA's 2-inch figure should be the same scale as those earlier Playmates figures.

The 5-inch figure should be to the same scale as Playmates' Series 15 "interactive" (e.g. talking) Deep Space Homer action figure released in 2004.

Buzz Aldrin shared this today (April 7):
Look what I got today! Who has my The Simpsons action figure as one of the 25 greatest guest stars?

Never mind the doll, I love the t-shirt with its play on the MARTINI logo. Clever.

I, too, love that shirt!
Look what I got today!
That explains why I haven't seen one at the local comic book store the times I've gone looking for one. Now that he has one, I assume they'll be soon coming to stores that carry these.
