Build up of Revell's Apollo Astronaut on the Moon kit. I made all the corrections to replicate the A7L PGA.

Built sometime ago, it was recently retrofitted with regolith simulant.

Very nice Steve. Superb detail and I love the painted reflection on the visor.

I like the mouthpiece/parachute behind the astronaut, so the chute did deploy

Steve, you took what I believe to be a mediocre model and turned it into a real representation of the great moment. Great work!

What is used to make the used/washed look please?

Any advice most appreciated...

This is my first build in over 40 years. Not near Steve's but I am satisfied for a first attempt. I did my own base and added a few details such as extra hoses and such.

I bought one of the Revell 1/8 Apollo Astronaut kits, which was on offer in a local discount store for the sum of £5.00.

Inspired by an earlier post by a cS member, I have completed the model. The kit is not the best and required significant adaptation before completion.

Had to add PLSS aerial, hoses (Revell supply two right had side), and the visor is just awful — managed to change it with body filler. An old USB cable was useful in supplying the RCU PLSS lead, hoses, LEC and Velcro strips etc.

Okay now its done for the sum of five pounds though...

All times are CT (US)
