This new 1:48 Space Probe Voyager is out on the market and it seems it's selling fast. It looks a very promising Voyager from Hasegawa. |

From first glance everything looks really nice. The parts are crisp and molded nicely. A lot of tiny pieces and its more extensive then I thought, which makes me happy because I don't like super easy models. Not that this will be hard, I am just glad its a lot of detail and will be fun to paint and such. I will post completed pictures when I am done, which will probably be a week or two, depending how much time I have available to actually build. |

Well here she is. A really great little kit. I took pictures during most of the build, but then forgot to continue to take pictures during the last part of the build. The kit is really well molded with a lot of detail and a lot of TINY parts. I was surprised as to the amount of small parts that almost got lost because of my clumsy hands. Some of the parts are very fragile and make sure you have a fresh, sharp Xacto knife handy. Enjoy! All comments, good or bad, are welcome. |

I see Hasegawa is getting A LOT of use out of that Earth globe display base they originally tooled up for the Egg Shuttle back in the 1980s. So far I've seen it crop up with this kit AND the shuttle with Hubble Telescope kit that they released a couple years back.When I do my Voyager, I'll have to see about altering that globe to look like like Jupiter or Saturn (with part of a ring on it), or just build an all new display base with a representation of the grand tour. |

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Jay, that base was not used in the final display as Voyager being a deep space probe I chose a round wood platform painted black to represent space. |

Great work, Steve. I've got the model and the PE set but haven't tackled it yet. May I ask what techniques you used to fold the Low-Field Magnetometer (the long boom arm thingo)? It's so long that finding a sharp edge suitable to use is one of the things that's stopping me from taking on the challenge. I also notice that you accomplished "the twist" - how much more difficult was that to do? A daunting endeavor, impressively achieved. Congrats. |

I used 2 metal rulers to bend the magnetometer boom but it is easier to bend a small section at a time. The p.e. is soft so it is very easy. The difficult part is the 1/3rd twist, with the metal being soft it will deform the boom if not careful, thanks for the thumbs up. |
