Just saw ads for two versions of the UH-34D Seahorse copter by Revell and MRC, both in 1/48 scale.

The Revell ad depicts a Mercury capsule recovery and a description of a 'space capsule winch' as a model detail. Either would make a great subject for a diorama.

This looks to be the Revell kit: 1/48 Marine UH-34 D Helicopter Plastic Model Kit
The simple, versatile and dependable UH-34D Seahorse was a favorite with the U.S. Marine Corps throughout the Vietnam War. A lot was asked of the copter, including retrieval of Mercury space capsules. Sadly, when Gus Grissom's Liberty Bell 7 capsule filled with water it was too heavy for the Seahorse and the capsule was lost. Kit features are modeled in light gray and clear resin with a detailed cockpit, interior, recessed panel lines and underside winch.

I bought the Revell UH-34 while out of town over the weekend. The plastic itself looks okay, but the decals for the helo that tried to lift Liberty Bell 7 have serious errors (incorrect Bureau Number - 148765 as opposed to the correct 148755 - incorrect aircraft designation - they didn't become UH-34Ds until late in 1962, so it would be an HUS-1 back then - and also some squadron markings that don't look right compared to my references; also, some of the airframe stencils are done in what looks like Helvetica).

On the other hand, the parts for the lifting sling look intriguing, and if I can figure out a way around the decal problem it should be a fun build.
