Not my thing, and while the satellite details seem limited they are free and from a reliable source — the mini landscapes look good too...
When it comes to 3D printing, NASA certainly doesn’t want to be left out in the cold. A couple months ago, we learned that NASA was teaming with MakerBot to launch a ‘Mars Base Challenge‘. Then, a few weeks ago we reported that NASA had created the first full 3D model of Eta Carinae Nebula. Now, they are taking things a step further, with the release of 21 3D printable models via their website.

Gale Crater printed in hard nylon and painted in oils. The detail of the NASA file in extra ordinary I think.

More if go over to the ARC Real Space Modeling forum. Gale Crater are the last two pics posted. The previous ones require a different approach because of the 'grain.'

Very impressive! It would be neat to use a model like this to notate/mark the path followed by Curiosity...

(Also, it is difficult to see in the photo, but at that scale, collectSPACE crater might be just visible!)

Thanks Robert for getting the pic up. Needs a little imagination but I think the collectSPACE crater is there.

All times are CT (US)
