Here is what we just received in, a model of the Apollo Lunar Module (LM) leg and foot pad, it is about 7" tall.
The LM legs were built by Heroux Limited Longueuil, Quebec. Longueuil is a suburb of Montreal and I lived in Montreal for 4+ years. It has always been neat to me that the first manned landing made on the moon was on Canadian legs.  
Interestingly enough the company is still in business and we at work were looking at them for some part builds and I had a chance to e-mail the contacts there. They sent me the pic below of the display they have in their office area.  |

Very nice model. Pity they forgot to stick on the Lunar Plaque.

I did not know that the legs were manufactured in Canada. They obviously have a gift for "arms" and "legs". |

This is amazing. I did not know either that Canada made the legs for the LM. I always assumed it was Grumman!How much and what scale is the model? |

I presume this is the same model listed on eBay about two or three weeks ago. I spotted it at the time and considered taking a shot.It makes for a very nice and unique display the likes of which I have never seen before. Many congratulations on your latest acquisition. |

I remember watching the moon landing at 12 years old. I was in Canada and we received the CBS feed through the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). Where we lived that was the only station you could get (it was years before I released there was any use for the knob on the TV that had all those numbers, but I digress). At various times in the CBS broadcast anchor Lloyd Robinson would come on and give the Canadian perspective of what was happening. One of those segments was an interview and discussion with the company that made the LM legs and I always remembered that tidbit. I wish I would have thought to go looking for that company when I lived in Montreal but that was before the internet and a way to go search it out. As far as I can tell it is about 1/20 scale. It was an eBay win. As far as price I was amazed that the bidding was very light, four other bidders. Final price was an amazing $180 plus $25 shipping. Understand for those kicking them selves the only thing that you did by not bidding was make it cheaper for us as our bid was REALLY high. We wanted this based on my connection. |

Well, you've got to love eBay scores like that. A few years ago I almost bid on one item, which was an SRB thermal curtain. It went for a rather low price at the time $500 I think and I was too poor to bid on it. But, at least I know it went to a good home as Gary was the winner of it, even if I didn't know that at the time (at least got to let me oogle over it when I visited him in July). |
