I was getting out my boxes of Christmas decorations, and I noticed that I have quite a collection of aviation and space -themed Christmas ornaments.Many are from Hallmark, but I have several others, too. As this year is the Centennial of Flight, I think I'll decorate my tree solely in aircraft and spacecraft! |

That sounds very nice. That's one tree I would like to see. Space ornaments are one thing I don't have... maybe you have started something here, thanks. |

I decorated my tree today, and remarked to myself that I have plenty of Star Trek and Star Wars ornaments, but need to get some "real space" ones to go with them! |

Thanks for the "heads up" on the ornament! How nice it is! It is much bigger than I expected and all three pictures are amazing. For 16.95 it is a really good buy. I bought the only two that my Carlton Cards had so there are none left. The sales person was shocked at how nice it was. I heartily recommend that everyone look one up... It is amazing!

Went to a Hallmark store and pick one up. But, really need some guidance justifying all the space nick/nacks I have been purchasing lately, it is really becoming addictive. |

I just received one of these as a gift from a co-worker - with a subtle alteration. Nice to see they got the Union Flag the right way up (as upside-down is still treasonous!) |

I was only able to get the Hallmark Friendship 7, Apollo 14 LM and LRV ornaments on the tree this year (with Snoopy on another tree). I also have the Hallmark shuttle, Freedom 7 and a couple others, but I can't hang them as the light socket plugs are just different enough not to work with the light strings I used this year (they will light, but won't lock into the sockets, anything made after 1997 will though). I had to halve my collection of ST and SW ornaments on the tree as well for similar reasons. I also have four X-Planes ornaments in my stash as well (gold chromed Wright Flyer, Silver chrome Spirit of St Louis, Silver Predator drone, Red metallic Northrop N-9M flying wing), but I have yet to work up the nerve to pull them out of their blister packs since they are limited production ornaments. But they would look SWEET on a tree. Maybe next year I will open them and add them to my tree. |

Jay, you have a cool collection of space exploration ornaments - we also have several in the ST series and a couple of F-14s.If you got the X-Planes ornaments to enjoy, unwrap them and hang them on your Christmas Tree! They will add a unique dimension - and you probably don't have to plug them in... |

The NASA vector ornaments are signed by Mercury, Gemini and Apollo mission control staff, significant support people and shuttle astronauts. |

It's that time of year... I bet most of us have at least one of those Hallmark space collectibles that have been issued through the years. A few years back I posted some simple instructions on how to re-work the Mercury Capsule to make it look a little more scale like. Besides waiting for the paint to dry, it can easily be done in an hour or so. So get out that duplicate ornament and spruce it up for the holidays... |
