I'm finishing up my Atomic City Mercury 1:12 model, but cannot find any photos online of the interior view of the Mercury hatch. Any help? |

Below are some photos showing the inside of the Mercury spacecraft door. The door was on display with Liberty Bell 7 when it was at the Virginia Air and Space Center. The display data plate stated that it was not the original as that was lost but that this door was on loan from the Smithsonian. I hope these help. (added a couple of outside shots as well, no shingles installed).

Here's the National Air and Space Museum's description of the hatch and why it's missing its outside shingles. This particular hatch lacks external shingles and has been modified to carry a micrometeoroid experiment built by Bendix. It never flew in space. In 1973 the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston transferred it to the Smithsonian. |

Speaking of the Atomic City Mercury model, I have one ready to go but need some help with the proper color of paints required for a detailed look. Any advice and help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
