I recently finished this Revell 1/144 space shuttle stack as a tribute to Discovery's STS-133 mission.

The MLP is the one provided with the kit that I added details to make it look a bit more accurate. Although it's still under scale, I feel it makes a nice display base.

Awesome job!

Did you scratch build the launch platform?

That's seriously nice work. Having done similar efforts on the Revell kit, my hat's off to you for how real you made that one look.

Mike, do you go build also a crawler under it? There are nice paper models that can rebuild in a styrene version.

Thanks guys for all the nice words!

the clocks running - The launch platform is the one that comes with the Revell kit. I scratch built the Tail Service Masts, the SSWS pipes, rainbirds, cameras, cut out the SSME blast chamber and added the access platforms and railings to the front.

apolloprojeckt - I'm not going to build a crawler. The Revell MLP is under scale so I'm leaving it out.

Below is a few more pictures I took today. Thanks, Mike

Amazing job on the launch platform. The reality is that you technically scratch built it. Simply Awesome!!!

Thanks again for the nice words!

I did have to make several compromises to get everything to sort of look correct given the smaller size. The TSM's are 1/144 scale to match the shuttle stack and in the correct positions relative to the shuttle. I made the SSME blast chamber 1/160 scale to leave more upper deck space. It's only slightly smaller then it should be but still looks about right. I had to leave out one of the SSWS down pipes, on the sides of the SRB blast chambers, since the Revell MLP's SRB blast chambers don't extend far enough back. I also scaled down the access platforms and blast shields on the front to make it all fit. All in all I'm happy with the results.
