Glencoe Models has announced the reissue of the classic Adams Thor White Sands model kit. The description reads:
The flat base has been added here. In the kit you will get the same launch platform as included with the companion Vanguard rocket - which is also planned to be released.

I hope someone keeps us updated on the progress of this kit (and the Vanguard).

This kit is available now!! I am shocked by how big the actual Thor is, and most of the kit is the launch table.

There is a second nosecone in the kit that is tapered and has a larger hole on top, which I assume could have been used for a Thor-Able. I have found out that you could use the upper stage of Adam's Vanguard kit to build a Pioneer "Moonshot" rocket.

While the instruction sheet shows how this can be done, it will not result in an accurate Thor-Able.

Instead it is more representative of a Thor-Delta.

Yep, Pioneer 1 would not be accurate. It needs a rounded nosecone instead of pointed.

This may be a silly question, but after hours of searching, I can't find any reference to Thor ever being launched at White Sands. Was it?
