This very impressive, 1:5 scale model of the European Space Agency's Columbus science laboratory was on display in the Kennedy Space Center media center during the previous week's STS-122 launch attempts:

Wow! Nice and big. Somebody went to overkill with this thing, right down to the teeny tiny laptops with the display screens on them (were they lit?). We should ask Glen Johnson at Realspace Models to offer it in kit form.

BTW Robert, did you shoot any up close pictures of that ISS and shuttle model on the table next to it?

I didn't photograph it intentionally, but I did capture this shot as I was focusing on Paolo Nespoli talking about the STS-122 mission:

Thanks Robert! Looking at these contractor models, I see why they look so boring. Unless they are very big like the Columbus model and have lots of surface relief, they look too clean. Somebody needs to apply a light wash to the ISS model to pick out some of the raised details on it.
