Outside of model building kits and display models (including Dragon Wings), has anyone ever seen or owned a toy shuttle that came labeled as Atlantis?

I have been able to find toy versions of Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discovery and Endeavour ...but no Atlantis.

If you have seen such a toy, can you share the manufacturer and date it was released, if you know?

Thanks but I wouldn't call that a toy; it is a display model in the same spirit as the Toys and Models Corp. desktop models.

What I am specifically seeking is a plastic or diecast space shuttle designed to be a child's plaything.

The closest I have been able to find thus far is the Puzz3D Atlantis Space Shuttle, which is a puzzle is for children, but again not necessarily what I would think of when considering "toy shuttles."

Wow, I hadn't thought about it until you brought up the topic Robert. But indeed I just got done with a web search for such a thing and came up empty.

It seems with the toy shuttles, they tend to be named Columbia, Enterprise (very early ones) or Discovery. Otherwise they don't seem to have names on them. The Dragon wings diecast might be the only thing although it appears Herpa did one as well (again, more a display piece rather then a toy). The 3D Puzzle I would say is the best bet for the definition of a "toy" as opposed to a display piece.

In model kits, Atlantis is a low one on the totem pole as I recall only four kits that were ever badged Atlantis: a Revell of Germany issue of the 1/144 shuttle orbiter from the late 1980s, A Minicraft 1/144 shuttle stack (before it got reissued as Endeavour), a 1/288 Academy launch stack kit and the latest Revell of Germany reissue of the 1/72 Revell shuttle (which has the best decal sheet of any model in 1/72 IMHO).

Believe it or not, I may actually have one. I'll root around in my basement to see if my memory is correct. I believe it may have been Space Voyagers that made it - I can picture in my mind the crawler base, and the Shuttle complete with SRBs and orange ET.

I have one. It's from a company RealToy International Limited, from Hong Kong. A label on back say distributed by Plymouth Press LTD Vergennes, VT. Has 800 number listed.

It's 13 inch high. Shuttle with boosters and tank on the pad. Three two-inch astronauts wearing white suite. One has MMU. There is also an American flag on pole that is slightly more than two inches.

It just dawned on me that our wedding cake topper was Atlantis. It was one of the Space Voyager series.

We bought a diecast and plastic shuttle and launch pad set from the KSC visitor's center back in December for my 3-year-old. The shuttle is labeled Atlantis - though my son calls it "Blasty"

I forget the brand (I'm pretty sure it's the Space Voyagers one), but it's the one they have a million of there: diecast shuttle with plastic bay doors, removable plastic ET and SRBs, a plastic RMS and Hubble-like payload, a plastic crawler-pad (no tower), and a couple of vehicles and astronauts (I think).

I just noticed it was Atlantis because that's the one we're trying to get here in Ohio!

Robert, I think lunarrv15 and I are speaking of the same toy. Some years ago I made a purchase of the described Atlantis shuttle at Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach. The toy is largely die cast and part plastic. There is some minor assembly required. I paid $11 dollars for it.

The box it came in said "In Air E-Z Build." The toy comes with the decals already applied. I made purchases of the Atlantis and Discovery models. In Air is a registered trademark of Plymouth Toy and Book located at 103 Panton Road, Vergennes, Vt. 05491. The toy is not a bad replica of the shuttle for the price.

And that's the same one I have, although I have yet to locate it. (Sans astronauts and wedding cake.)
