Here's the dumb question of the year.
If I want to go from 1/48 to 1/6, it would seem obvious that I would multiply by 8.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's not dumb, all modelers have to take a minute to think about it.

1/24 is double the size of 1/48. 1/12 is double that, or four times 1/48. Finally, 1/6 is double that again, or eight times 1/48.

So you are correct.
