Dave DeFino has created a really nice website showing Hollywood special effects artist Gene Young's work. Please check it out. Gene created some fantastic aerospace models, from his X-15 (which sold at Bonham's for $7,000!!) to his all brass VLA models for JPL. |

Wow! Great stuff, thanks for sharing the link! I like the 1/4 scale F-15 and those scale sets are amazing. A real talent before the age of CG animation. Looks like he enjoyed his work. |

After reviewing the site, learned that one of the models fabricated by Gene's shop resides in my collection |

One of the last projects I helped Gene with was the 1/4 scale F-15. He told me it was for PacMin, who he did a lot of work for and with. At the time I had my shop in Ventura and right down the road was a fiberglasser who did great work for good costs. He made the molds for the F-15 and surprisingly left the body master there. It might still be there today but it was wood and other ,aterials not designed to last more than required for the mold. | |
