Hi Rob. Your kit is probably the old Revell 1/144th scale kit. I had the 747/Enterprise combo that was issued in 1977 or 1978. I later had an orbiter only kit with a base as you describe. I think Revell issued an Enterprise orbiter only kit at about the same time as their 747/Enterprise kit. Check out www.ninfinger.org/~sven/models/models.html for more info on spacecraft models.
