I have a model of Space Shuttle Enterprise I put together, I'm guessing 25 years ago. I'm just not sure; I can't remember exactly when or where I got it. It measures 9 1/2 inches from front to back and is supported by a clear curved plastic stand measuring just under 2 inches tall. The stand's base is convex and has a relief of the western hemisphere on the front. The way the orbiter is attached to the stand makes it dip to the left and the bay doors open to reveal a full payload. I've checked it over but can't seem to find any wording or numbers on it anywhere. Does anyone else have one of these or maybe know of it? Would you then please help me out concerning what year the model was made and maybe if subsequent ones were made? I wouldn't sell it but I'd still like to know what it might be worth, also. I'll try to put some photos of it here if anyone is interested . Just let me know! Thanks, Rob |

Hi Rob. Your kit is probably the old Revell 1/144th scale kit. I had the 747/Enterprise combo that was issued in 1977 or 1978. I later had an orbiter only kit with a base as you describe. I think Revell issued an Enterprise orbiter only kit at about the same time as their 747/Enterprise kit. Check out www.ninfinger.org/~sven/models/models.html for more info on spacecraft models. It has a link that provides a list of just about every space related model ever offered. [This message has been edited by dtemple (edited February 15, 2004).] |

I believe they (revell) used this same model, with different lables, for their model kit for the shuttle in the James Bond movie Moonraker. | |
