Just acquired a very interesting unflown but tested Apollo era engineering artefact... and busy researching for my next article.

So for fun, does anyone have any idea what it was for? One clue: it was flown to the surface on two Apollo lunar missions but for what purpose?

Solid rocket motors used for launching the active seismic experiment grenades, part of the Apollo 14/16 ALSEP.
