I picked up a box of negatives and slides. On the brown NASA envelope you might find Roll 232 plus handwritten notes on what is one the negatives. My questions would be are they original negatives or second generation? They were found in a box from which the Principal Investigator of an experiment worked. The experiment, floppy disk, VHS tapes (from Marshall Space Flight Center probably), from the downlinks and a roll of film were also found. Plus a set of slides in a JPL envelope as well. If anyone knows how negatives were sent out after the mission, I would like to know more. |

More information is needed. What type of experiment are the negatives from? Generally speaking, flight film (originals) did not leave NASA. Second and more often, third generation copies were created for distribution. |

STS-73 and the Drop Fluid Experiment. Many of the negatives are from the mission as well. Working on seeing if we can get the whole experiment. Weighs over 500 pounds. |

Usually along the edge of film there is something to indicate the type of film, perhaps a series of numbers. If it matches the type of film caried on the mission, I would say it is original. But if it matches a duplicating type of film, then not original. (I have no idea how to find out what film type was used, or what duplicating film would have been used.) |

For example, in one envelope we have a negative with the following info on it: HEAD NASA-JSC Drawing of Shuttle Roll 232 sts-73 Film Type- Pro 400 Nasa-JSC-Houston in small letters running atop the negative. |

Any more thoughts on these? Let me know if anyone wants any photo after I scan these. |

Roll 232 is a 35mm roll of film. The only image publicly available from this roll is frame 13 showing Astronaut Michael E. Lopez-Alegria. "HEAD" generally refers to the start of the roll, whereas "TAIL" generally refers to the end of the roll. |

I am working on over 3500 scanned photos. Not very fun. |
