Does anyone know for certain which pressure suit the astronauts wore for their WSS (White Space Suit) photos? (Flight, training, back-up?) |

Anecdotal but maybe of use to you -A collector I corresponded with some years ago owned a light-weight version of the A7L ITMG. He'd been in touch with a contact from the Apollo days at ILC who'd identified it as a 'photo suit'. ILC fabricated a number of cosmetically accurate facsimiles of the A7L (and presumably A7LB) for display, with less layers inside and no PGA. This was also confirmed in a vintage article concerning ILC that I read in the last few years but irritatingly I can't find it. Just thought I'd throw it out there anyway. |

Which astronauts wearing the A7LB (EV) spacesuits in their WSS portraits never wore that suit type in space, or never flew in space? Can you add to the list? - Jack Swigert

Dave Scott, Al Worden, Jim Irwin and William Pogue have mission emblems on the spacesuits in their WSS portraits.Gene Cernan has an Apollo 10 mission emblem on his A7LB (EV) suit, which is not historically accurate. |
