I recently purchased what was described as a cosmonaut unflown survival fishing kit. It is still sealed and has never been opened. It's a long shot but does anybody out there have an identical one except one that is opened?

I want to know what's inside but am reluctant to open it.

Also does anybody know the date of the item and any other information? I find it a fascinating piece and tells an interesting story.

Here is a link to some photos of the contents of the kit. Google it and you'll find others.

I've seen these many times over the years, and was never convinced they were "cosmonaut" fishing kits. Identical units were standard issue in all Soviet flight kits, so I concluded that these are almost certainly sourced from generic aeronautical emergency supply kits (unless they come with some iron clad cosmonaut provenance).

All times are CT (US)
