I believe spoon-bowl food packets were first used on Apollo 11, is that correct? |

From NASA SP-368 Biomedical Results of Apollo: Evolution of the Apollo food system was continued with the Apollo 10 flight, during which the spoon-bowl package was introduced. The spoon-bowl package permitted convenient use of a spoon for consuming rehydrated foods. This modified package had a water inlet valve at one end and a large plastic-zippered opening on the other, which provided access to the rehydrated food with a spoon. Large pieces of dehydrated meat and vegetables could now be included to provide a more familiar and acceptable texture. As a result of this modification, some Apollo crewmen expressed a preference for selected foods in rehydratable form over the wetpack equivalent. |

Thanks Robert. Would it be correct to say that they were in use from 1969-72? |

I may be wrong but I think they were used on early shuttle too. |

You've got me there Rick, not sure? I believe some were used in 1975 though on the ASTP mission but not during Skylab? |
