I am new to this field of collecting and have recently developed an interest in obtaining some items related to the Mercury through Apollo programs. I happened to purchase, via eBay, a somewhat random but interesting item for me: a display segment from the Apollo launch control room.

I was wondering if anyone here could give me more insight into the particular location(s) where this segment might appear in the LCR. I don't think it's not one of the numeric elements since the segments don't create many possible numbers... but I'm just guessing at this point.

Any photos of one in service or other diagrams? I assume a portrait rather than landscape orientation? Anywhere I might obtain more?

As a project, I'm going to mount it nicely for display complete with a little Arduino controller behind it lightning the various segments by LED. Both a collectable item of interest to me and a fun technical project.

Any insights are appreciated! — Aaron

Here's some photos of a complete unit I acquired, integrated with a microcontroller, and turned into a clock.

The +/- segment you purchased was at the far-left of the other 7-segment displays to designate T- and T+. — Rich

Thanks, Rich! Ours seem to be different models, but obviously similar purpose/operation.

The + and - from the center segments make perfect sense now for the one I have. Any idea what the leftmost and rightmost vertical pair would have represented?

Nice work on yours. Would love to find a complete set similar to one I purchased... but not holding my breath.

Perhaps to display an "H" for Hold? Not sure about that though - can't say I've ever seen a photo or video with H xx:xx:xx:xx on the countdown clocks.
