I curate a collection of 311 NASA artifacts and recently got a couple that I am not sure about. One is called a Glove Restraint (blue pouch with white strap) but it doesn't look like anything in my research. One is a Gas Container Suit.

The suit appears to be the pressure bladder layer from an ACES suit. The feet have been cut off.

A comfort liner attaches to the inside of the suit, and a restraint layer which holds the shape of the suit and provides mobility goes over this bladder layer. The outermost layer of a complete suit is the familiar orange cover layer.

Are there any printed labels on the pressure bladder?

What is the collection that you curate?

I am curious as well, seeing as your location is quite local. Would love to see it!

Given kcuci's location and detail about the number of items in curation, the collection is likely at the Orland Park Library.

I would have never guessed that the library would have such a collection, but that is quite awesome!

Thanks so much for giving me a clue. ACES makes sense to us.

Yes, the collection is at the Orland Park Public Library and you all are welcome to come and look at it at any time. We are in the midst of our annual inventory and cleaning so the display cases are slowly losing items but we would be happy to show you a behind-the-scenes. Ask for Kelly.

All times are CT (US)
