At the San Diego Air & Space Museum we've received the following query. These photos, we were told by the provider, show an Apollo command module at North Island in San Diego (where the CMs were shipped after splashdown and safed before transport to Downey for more extensive post-flight examination). The question is, which command module is this? A number of them were left with this little Mylar at this point, so I am hoping that perhaps the burn pattern and/or other distinctive blemishes might make this command module identifiable to those of you with extensive post-flight images of flown CMs. Thank you so much!

Francis I have increased the contrast and cropped your images to try and show the CM more clearly. Contact me if you want the full size files. |

And for the benefit of the class, what tell tale signs point to this being the Apollo 15 command module? |

In the second photo, you can see a white v-shaped mark about halfway up the CM next to the blackened area.It looks like you can see that same v-shaped mark on the Apollo 15 CM in image 0444 on the A Field Guide to American Spacecraft website. |

I have the same V mark on a photo taken a year ago, so I agree: Apollo 15.
