As related by Russell Still in his book "Relics of the Space Race", Gemini III carried $1 and $2 bills for members of the launch crew (Richard Jurek provides a nice synopsis here).

Has anyone ever heard about what happened to the play money that Lola Morrow gathered for Gus Grissom to take along and switch with the real flown currency?

I have never heard of any of the play money surfacing over the years, so I assume that it was thrown away at the time. It would be interesting to know if any of that play money was kept, though.
