I'm a model-making student at the Arts University in Bournemouth UK and I'm looking for some help on a new project.I am currently working on a project entitled Space Exploration, which is a very exciting topic for me as I have always been very interested in the subject. I have decided to try and make a 1:2 scaled version of the injector plate from the Saturn V F-1 first stage engine and have done a large amount of research trying to find the measurements or blueprints for it but have unfortunately come up empty. I have the measurements for the diameter of the plate (44 inches) and the overall thickness (8 inches), but I don't have the individual breakdown thicknesses for the baffles or the angles for the fuel/oxidizer orifices, etc. which are vital if I am to try and make a replica of the injector. If anyone here might be able to help me with any additional measurements which can be verified (for my tech document) I would very much appreciate it. Thank you for your time. — Takara |

A great start would be here.It has some information and graphics but more importantly the sources, which could lead you in the right direction for more detailed information. |

Good project! And to derive inspiration and courage through it, you might read the section of this book detailing the thorough and painful conception and testing of this injector... |

I also have photos of the injector from the F-1 that MSFC disassembled back in 2012, from which you might be able to work out dimensions.Email me for full-resolution photos if you find any useful. |

Thanks Mike. That is a massive piece of metal. Hard to imagine how they arrived at the design. More incredible is the machining required. |
