Several years ago I bought a 1x1x1/8th inch sample of flown SRB parachute strap from an eBay seller. I recently came across the sample but I cannot find the paper I had that identified it. I can't remember for sure, but I think the seller was a cSer. If you are out there and see this, please give me the details of this sample. Did anyone else get one of the samples? Thanks in advance for any help with this. |

I am not the seller, but if you post a picture of it I'll try to ID it for you. |

I partnered with fellow cS'er James "Jimmy" Brown on some SRB parachute pieces. We were never able to verify they were flown so we never claimed they were. Some of them may have made their way to ebay.I did design a certificate that the parachute section was mounted to. I can probably email you the artwork if you think it's what you're after. The certificate had a schematic of the chute deployment sequence along with a background image of a spent booster just after separation. Hope this helps. |

Okay, I THINK I have found it. Notice I say THINK. It appears to be type XVII, which has a tensile strength of 2,500 lbs. It was used in the construction of pilot chute bridle cords on the SRB parachutes. It was also used as a support tape in the canopy itself. |
