Can someone explain to me what some Apollo hardware items were removed during post flight analysis and others were not? i.e a window frame.

Thanks

Some hardware was always removed (such as the radio-luminescent disks on the handrails), and some was removed as a result of a specific test. I know that some windows were removed for analysis of micrometeorite impacts. Perhaps a window frame was not always reinstalled after removal.
