Does anyone here know which crew member retained the flown Flight Plan after the Apollo missions, as well as their current locations?
  • The Apollo 7 Flight Plan is currently on display in the Apollo Saturn V Center at Kennedy Space Center, though there is no plaque detailing who loaned it to them or who owns it.

  • The Apollo 11 Flight Plan was retained by Buzz Aldrin and was broken up for disbursement among collectors.

  • The Apollo 17 Flight Plan (2 volumes) was retained by Gene Cernan and was sold in the 10/08 Heritage sale.
Does anyone know the whereabouts of the other missions? Are any on display anywhere?

Dave Scott told me that he has all the Apollo 15 flight documents "sealed up and they're going to stay that way."

I believe the Apollo 8 Flight Plan is at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

The Apollo 12 Flight Plan is owned by someone who keeps it safely in a vault. I don't want to reveal this person's identity without their permission.

The Apollo 8 Flight Plan is actually now on exhibit at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. Jim Lovell moved a lot of his artifacts there for the Lovell/GT12 capsule exhibit. (Plus, he's on the board there.) It is in the entry way, open to the reading of Genesis, with a wonderful video of that event playing in the background.

I've posted some pictures of the Apollo 8 flight plan when it was still at the Museum of Science & Industry to my website.

Can anyone confirm that the Apollo 13 flown Flight Plan is at Adler, Chicago, or somewhere else, because my copy of the "flown" flight plan ends with page 3-119 and a "cartoon" and then one page only of a "script" that the crew had prepared at about the 153 GET point for a TV broadcast.

I am curious what else was in the following pages of the "script."

Andy, actually, we are offering the flown Flight Plan from Apollo 13 in our (Sotheby's) upcoming Space Exploration sale on July 20th. You can see the full description and photos of the lot here.

Robert and I discussed this a while ago — what is on display at the Adler is in fact the CSM Malfunction Manual, not the Flight Plan.

I have also written a blog post about the Flight Plan, which may be of interest to some.

All times are CT (US)
