I need some help identifying some (possible) Apollo hardware. This piece of 'metal' is approximately 4x4cm and weights 35 grams.

I got it together as part of a larger lot. There was a handwritten note with it that said: "This is a sample of the material used in the insulation of the heat shield that protected the Apollo capsule." Any thoughts on that? Thank you!!

...looks like it might be the honeycomb material into which the ablative material is injected when making Command Module heat shield.

The honeycomb into which the resin was injected was nylon...the stainless meshing is part of the substructure underlaying the Avco ablative layer.
