Not truly "hardware" or "flown" but a flight ready crew reference tool.
After several months of FOIA requests and refinements I finally got the Star Charts as used on STS missions !
They are printed on thick photographic paper and are of an unusual size 8X16". The equatorial and circumpolar stars are on separate charts. The printing was made for 7/31/05 (includes planets). This would be as they are for the STS-114 mission. (They just add moon stickers).

I like these because they are uncluttered by low magnitude stars and do not use many of the obscure constellations commonly used. A great way of learning the stars as our shuttle crews have.

Is there any great interest out there ? I'm thinking of writing a little booklet with the star list from the Refernce Data book, a sort of "Astronaut's Guide to Astronomical Viewing", with the charts as a foldout.

This is quite intersting... Just a jpg copy would be quite interesting for starters.

I'll see what I can do here in the upcoming week. My home office should be back to normal by then and I can get a larger scanner to get these big charts converted to .jpg.

All the Best
