Have the following questions on flown Russian items.

1) Any ideas how many flags were carried on the flights?

2) What would normaly happen to them after the flight?

3)If presentation pieces why don't these ever come on the market ie why are all the flags loose?

4)What is the best way to display flown flags (ie flags that are loose)?

5)How do identify a "fake" russian flown in space hand stamp.

6) What is a fair price for a flown Russian program flag outside of auction?

7)Apart from Alex Pancheko and the likes of Florian / Donnis and farthest reachest is ther any one else who deals in this type of artifact?

The problem with Russian and previously Soviet material is knowing if 'genuine' or not.

Obviously ones with identifiable signatures by cosmonauts are probably the best or to buy from a known source - like Alex or from the cosmonauts themselves when they visit UK or elsewhere.[I bought a lot of stuff from cosmonauts direct this way besides from Alex].

I don't know if there are any lists of numbers of flown flags.

They also flew large numbers of triangular style pendants and a number of these are/were available signed - a few of which I have.

I believe Walter Hopfweiser (sp?) is a member of this board.

He is a specialist when it comes to Russian and soviet flown-in-space items and fake cancels.

I can understand dealing with the Cosmo direct, But through the post I would be worried about the loss of $$$ etc and my Russian is non existant, Though I see you can now get translations done on a couple of websites, So my next set of autographe requst via star city might be duel language.

Hi everybody,

Each year I am travelling to Moscow and Star City to meet friends. Many of them are cosmonauts.
In my opinion it is impossible to make business with a cosmonaut by mail. You need a personal contact.

I already posted my opinion on Superior's flags flown by Russian Soviet cosmonaut: http://collectspace.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/001869.html.
I am not able to comment the ones offered by Aurora - the pictures are not good enough. However I would not buy them either.

I got a Soviet and an Austrian flag flown with Soyuz TM-13 - both signed by all 5 cosmonauts and marked with scarce Trodat board marker. Although this was Soviet Union's last manned space flight, I might share the Soviet one.

Happy collecting everybody,
Walter
