Well, I got one. I was intrigued enough to contact the seller, find out what he was about, bid on and win one of the big messenger bags with the Soyuz TM-8 flown parachute sewn to the front.

Even coming from Canada the service was smooth. I was expecting to see the parachute material sewn onto the front of the bag, but the parachute was actually part of the assembly! These guys actually made the bag with the parachute integrated into it. Same with the text stitching, it doesn't come through the other visible side. Very slick.

Just for the record, I don't know the guys and they didn't give me a break on the prices to hawk for them. I just think it is cool (he says, risking the geek label).

The sellers username is everquestdesign:

Take care - Danno

I have been "field testing" one of these bags for about two weeks now. As the product is as much a utility as it is a collectible, I felt for a review I would need to cover both aspects. So, it has gone through the airport experience, New York rainy streets, my car's trunk with other luggage and the regular wear-and-tear of everyday life -- with my two most prized possessions inside: my Powerbook G4 without which cS would not exist and my Who's Who.

I had promised the manufacturer (EverQuest Design) to hold the review until their website and ordering system were ready. It appears they are nearing completion so expect something to appear on cS soon.

The first edition, "Who's Who in Space: The First 25 Years". Other than the fact it was the only edition available in 1987 when I began collecting signatures in the book, it also nicely provides for a very specific grouping of the men and women chosen for spaceflight during the first quarter century of space flight.

(To keep this thread on topic, I have heard from EverQuest Design as of yesterday evening and will be preparing an article about their Soyuz TM-8 bags to appear on the site next week)

I would suggest if you are considering ordering now, that you delay the decision by a week. I have been working with EverQuest Design to offer a special bonus for cS readers interested in purchasing the Soyuz bags. News of this special offer and how to qualify will appear alongside our article next week.
