collectSPACE Hubble Space Telescope may come into focus on 2020 American Innovation coinThe United States Mint may issue a 2020 coin that highlights the vision that has gone into operating the Hubble Space Telescope for 30 years. The golden dollar, if approved, will be part of the U.S. Mint's American Innovation $1 Coin Program. Introduced in 2018, the multi-year series honors innovation and innovators by issuing one dollar coins representing each of the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories. The Hubble Space Telescope would represent the state of Maryland. |

Hubble Space Telescope may come into focus on 2020 American Innovation coin This would be terrific, and I hope it comes to fruition. Alas I can't help but think there is a (frustrating) "joke" to be made here regarding the JWST, specifically whether it will ever "come into focus" let alone be honored on a coin. Personally, I believe that it will, and I look forward to the day it, too, is available for purchase (and that I am alive when it happens). |

Awesome! A huge fan of the Hubble program and nice design for the coin. Will be on the lookout for a nice DCAM70 to add to my collection. |

While not as cool as having an astronaut-signed slabbed coin, a group of students that has a store linked through spaceweather.com is selling single coins from this issue. Rolls of these coins were flown to an altitude of almost 116,000 feet on a research balloon, and retrieved after the balloon burst and the payload parachuted back to the ground. They can be bought here. |
