I have this Yuri Gagarin medal. On the front is his face from the side. On the back it says April 12, 1961 in Russian? Could this have been flown? Thanks.

You will need to share a photo or scan to help with the identification, but with regards to being flown, to my knowledge, Gagarin carried no medals on Vostok 1.

If you or Robert could post a picture I might be able to help you identify it. (I have a hunch, but I'll wait to see a picture.) Mike
