I'm considering paying the money and having my MFA Medallions encased in Lucite to display with my other Lucite artifacts. I was wondering if anyone has done this and had two questions if you have, or thoughts if you haven't. Do you think the process would damage the coin? What graphic would you add to make it look more attractive? |

You could put the medallion in a plastic airtight coin holder and then encase it in lucite if you are worried about damage to the coin. |

My two cents: don't! I love lucite just like most, but paying to destroy the value of a medallion just seems wrong.

I've wondered about this as a way of displaying a number of MFS/SFAs myself - in terms of value I think these are common enough not to be of concern on that front, the trick is, I think, choosing which ones and how.I wouldn't be going with single lucites but I had thought about doing the Apollo series (A8, 11, Skylab, ASTP, and a Shuttle seris (bearing in mind that will take a while to be sure all of the SFAs are produced since they can take 2-3 years to come out of the woodwork). Are you thinking of encasing anything else with them - flown material, photo etc? |

I have all these MFA's and and I want to display them, so, I thought Lucite would be nice. But, I think there needs to be some type of graphic to make it look nicer than just a coin. So, that's what I'm trying to figure out. |

Why not just frame your coins/medallions with a nice photograph, autographed or not. I've included a couple of photos of what I started to do. This is a 40th Anniversary of Americans in orbit medallion, I've used two (2) to show the front/back and framed it up with a autographed photo. I'm in the process of doing this with all my medallions, I think it looks nice! |
