T O P I C R E V I E WGordon Eliot ReadeI visited the USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum last week [July 2022] and as always I had a wonderful time. The volunteers who keep the doors open are extremely knowledgeable and just wonderful in every way. Also they've added to the Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 collection of historic artifacts. They now have a small recreation of an American home circa July 1969 with dial phone and bulky TV.They even have the recovery helicopter that was used in the filming of the movie "Apollo 13" painted as a duplicate of the Apollo 11 recovery helicopter. This caused me some confusion at first as the original was lost off the coast of California in 1975. Robert PearlmanThis video includes a first look at an upcoming Gemini interactive exhibit coming to the USS Hornet. From Tested: The USS Hornet aircraft carrier isn't just a museum; its hanger workshops are still in active use to restore aviation artifacts that come into its collection. Anthony Wilson, Director of Collections and Exhibitions, walks Adam through some of the aircraft that have been restored or are in the process of being restored for display on site!
