T O P I C R E V I E Wastro-nutI am a big Joe Engle fan and I would of liked to seen him walk on the moon during Apollo 17 flight(no offense to Jack Schmitt). My question is Joe Engle flew two shuttle flights(STS-2 and STS 51-I)if the Challenger tragedy didn't occur would Joe Engle flew a third or possible fourth flight on the space shuttle or was he ready for retirement from NASA?? Does any members have any input to my question? Also does any member know where I can contact Joe Engle himself?? Thank you.PowerCatIf I remember right, Joe and Mary Engle live in Houston. He retired as a major general, if my recollection is correct.I had the opportunity to talk with Joe on one of his return trips to his hometowm of Chapman, KS (about 25 miles from where I live). While he never said directly, my impression after talking with him was that Joe would have flown at least one more time. He had mentioned John Young and his then planned flight on the HST deploy mission (along with another Kansas astronaut-Steve Hawley). I would have loved to see Joe and Steve fly a mission together.PowerCat Lola MorrowJoe and Mary now live in Colorado Springs CO. I have contacted him at his home there. He keeps a very busy life.anrodriguezMr. Engle has an office at JSC. I was in Mr. Engle's JSC office Dec. 14 where he signed a 1/32 scale wood model of the X-15 for me....I was set up as a surprise birthday gift by my wife and her boss who knows Joe from the shuttle ALT tests. Boy was it ever! And he is actually Brigadier General Engle...it's right on his office door.
