T O P I C R E V I E WColinBurgessWho is said to have been the first person to fly into space with a tattoo? (And yes, I have the answer)ColincarmeloPete Conrad.mdmyerNavy men are fond of tatoos so my guess would be Alan Shepard. Mikesch61Does that include the tattoos used to locate the biosensors? If so, it is likely one of the first 3 Mercury astronauts, as John Glenn mentions having tattoos (for biosensor placement) in his autobiography.ColinBurgessThree very good responses. I certainly liked the one about the little sensor tattoos - good, logical thinking there. And yes, it was indeed a Navy man, but not Alan Shepard. In fact Carmelo is correct; it was Pete Conrad. He sported a tattoo of an anchor surrounded by stars with his initials underneath. It's unlikely that any of the early air force cosmonauts had tattoos. So well done, Carmelo! It actually made me think that if Pete Conrad had been joined on the moon by C.C. Williams, which was on the cards, it would have been a C.C. and C.C. event!Colin
