T O P I C R E V I E WRick BoosI was wondering if anyone has photos or diagrams of the cookie cutter that was first employed on Gus Grissom's Mercury-Redstone 4 Liberty Bell 7 flight that they could post? It was used to cut the whip antenna. Thanks.Lou ChinalRick, I know what your talking about. But after looking though my stuff I coludn't find a picture. Sorry.Rick BoosThank you Lou! I have hunted for years and came up empty handed. I talked to Jim Lewis on Saturday and he has been trying to find photos for a project he has been working on also and has had no luck. I think the reason it is so hard to find anything about it is because it was only used on the MR-4 mission. Lou ChinalHave you ever seen Liberty Bell in person? I seen to remember the hoisting cable was still attatched to the recovery loop.Rick BoosYes, I've seen the spacecraft. What I am referring to is the cutting device used to cut the whip antenna. It was first used on MR-4 and never used again. I've talked to Jim Lewis and John Reinhard and they don't have any photos of it either. The two poles used can be seen in the open bay of huntclub one on Spacecraft films but not the cutter itself. I've also checked all the old Mercury manuals with no luck.
