T O P I C R E V I E WRizz http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/325290.stm spaceukYes,I saw this story and its associated images. It certainly needs a 'stretch' of mind to 'accept' this story based on the fragile data available. But,the researcher involved does have a good track record .I'd like see the original artefacts he has discovered.I'm sure our ancestors were into astronomy and, like ourselves today, could readily see the stars and Moon at night - probably more so without city lights and without TV etc to distract them !as an aside ,when "scooping up" my cat in late evening, and if its a clear night sky,I always point her up towards the stars - just to see if she takes any 'notice' . I've never seen any reaction apart from a few months back when, with a fullish moon she seemed to gaze at it for a few seconds. But, I thinkit was because it was 'bright' - not the fact it was the Moon? Beyond that, she doesn't seem to gaze at the stars in the same way that I do. I often wonder whether other animal species on this planet take any real notice of the stars ? I'm sure some animals/birds use the Moon as a navaid but do they see and understand the night sky in the same way we do?
