RLK88 | For sale is a very rare signed baseball that I recently obtained from RR Auction two months ago. Catalog #395 (authenticated by Steve Zarelli as well). It was signed (very rushed) in person on 6/26/95. The consignor stated that Neil Armstrong signed the ball at the clubhouse at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was a participant there in the Youthlinks Indiana Charity Golf Tournament, put on by the Indiana Sports Corp. He remembered asking him personally to sign the ball and he looked dead at me and said "I'm not a baseball player." and walked past me. I walked back to him and said "yes sir, I know that and I know who you are... this ball is round and represents the moon to me." He smirked, grabbed the ball aggressively from my hand, signed it, and plopped it back in my hand with a look that I took as "don't ask again!" It is very evenly toned throughout. Anyway – I have some additional repairs to make due to damage from Superstorm Sandy and since I mostly collect signed baseballs from world leaders - this will have to go. Price is exactly what I paid for it — $4,495.85 — I have original receipt. I am negotiable on price. |
RLK88 | This baseball is still available if anyone is interested. |
Rob Sumowski | Let me guess, Randy...your wife found out how much you paid for it and hit the roof? (I've been there before.) |
rgarner | Either that or he crashed a motorcycle into an ice cream truck. Not been there myself, but it happens. What is the going price right now? |
RLK88 | This very rare item is still available. I need to make some additional repairs due to Sandy storm damage here on Long Island. I am negotiable on price. |
RLK88 | This item is still available. |
RLK88 | This baseball is currently being offered in the June 2013 Auction from Grey Flannel Auctions in New York. |
Steve Zarelli | Good luck, Randy! |
RLK88 | Thanks Steve! Someone is going to own this beauty! I have a gem mint Calle print that is now my #1 Armstrong signed piece. |
RLK88 | There is a gorgeous and REAL signed Neil Armstrong baseball currently up for auction at the Grey Flannel Auction Company. |

Steve Zarelli | Just browsing the Grey Flannel catalog... some amazing eye candy for sports fans and a gorgeous catalog. They don't seem to have much by way of space or history. Hope enough eyeballs are seeing your ball. |

Thanks Steve! |
MarylandSpace | I see a bidder has entered the auction. It would be nice to see this piece of Americana gather many more bids. About 6 hours to go at the time of my posting. |
RLK88 | This is one of the biggest auction houses in the country. They are the official auction house of the NBA and the Basketball HOF in Springfield, MA. They usually bring in huge numbers for autographed baseballs from folks like Neil Armstrong. My fingers are crossed. As you know - I recently made a contribution to the Lindbergh Foundation and I was given an original unframed Calle print from 1976 in stunning brand new condition. I am getting my Calle print framed as we speak and I recently received a nice thank you letter (from Charles Linbergh's daughter Reeve who runs the Lindberg Foundation) thanking me for my support. The letter talks all about when and where the print was signed.

MarylandSpace | Two more bids have bumped the Armstrong baseball up a bit with about 30 minutes remaining. Two of my favorite hobbies: Baseball and Space. |
