T O P I C R E V I E WfarthestreachesI am most pleased to announce that Farthest Reaches has been asked by former NASA Flight Director, Eugene Kranz, to coordinate the sale of his personal memorabilia. After spending almost two days with Gene, I can tell you that there is a wealth of material that would be of interest to collectors, spanning the range from pre-Mercury thru the STS program. Each item will come with either a Letter of Authenticity (hand signed by Gene) OR will be hand signed on the item itself as having come from Gene's personal collection. The first of this material will be posted to my site shortly, with much more to be added in the days, weeks, and months to come. Some items may be auctioned, though most will be offered for direct sale. Included are NASA badges, vintageNASA paper of all kinds including working documents hand annotated by Gene, internal letters and memos, autographs, awards and certificates, jewelery, patches, flown artifacts, models, and the list goes on. Oh, and also offered for sale are a few well known vests, that I believe will generate quite a bit of interest, the first of which is available at this time. I anticipate some other announcements related to Farthest Reaches and Gene Kranz to be announced shortly, so stay tuned. You may expect to see the first of Gene's memorabilia posted to Farthest Reaches site within the next day or two. ------------------Steve Hankowhttp://www.farthestreaches.comfarthestreachesHello Everyone,Just an update on the launching of the first "wave" of Eugene Kranz memorabilia. I'm busy scanning, photographing, and pricing those inital offerings from Gene, as will as working out some internal logisitcs between us related to the process at large. Just to reiterate, this is the first of several waves of material to be offered, as Gene and I continue to work our way through his extensive volume of artifacts and archives. I will announce the official launch date shortly, and promise it will be well publicized so that you'll be sure to know when the time comes. I fully expect it to be within two weeks or hopefully even sooner. Examples of what will be included in this first "wave" will be patches, a variety of MCC Badges (Mercury - STS), NASA and other certificates awarded to Gene, some flown odds and ends, some autographed items, models, a smattering of mission control artifacts, NASA mugs issued to and used by Gene, other misc items, and last but not least, one of Gene's legendary vests. Speaking of vests, please note that his red, white, and blue (Apollo 17) vest is on display (at JSC I believe) and his Apollo 13 vest has recently been turned over the the Smithsonian Museum. I mention this, as I've been receiving a number of requests inquiring about the availability of those two vests, along with others. Please also note that some select items will likely be sold via auction, though the large majority will be offered for direct sale. Lastly, much of Gene's vintage NASA "paper", including hand written or heavily annotated mission related material, "rule books", manuals, reports, corespondence, and other historic items dating back to the Mercury days will be offered as we are able to sift through them.I hope this information helps any of you who have been eagerly awaiting the launching of this sale and hope you'll be on the lookout for launch day, as there should be something to fit almost anyone's budget. Thanks for listening ------------------Steve Hankow http://www.farthestreaches.com [This message has been edited by farthestreaches (edited November 14, 2005).]
